Bullying is terrible!
According to the National Center for Education 1 out of every 5 students reported being bullied nationwide, while a staggering percent went unreported. The negative effects of bullying can last for years, sometimes a lifetime. Being bullied can cause social anxiety, depression and health issues, just to name a few things. It can also negatively impact the rest of life (school behavior/grades, confidence, etc.) also so we at Renzo Gracie Lake Houston want to take a proactive stance to combat bullying in our local communities. So whether you’re attending school in Summerwood, Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, Fall Creek or any of the surrounding areas, we want to make sure we are here to serve you and get the message out that bullying is something that we can avoid and prevent.
To that end, we are offering a FREE (donation-based) anti-bullying seminar this weekend in in which we will talk about bully prevention and demonstrate/teach children some basic defense moves to protect themselves in the event of a bully situation. This will be held at our Renzo Gracie Lake Houston academy at 14555 West Lake Houston from 9am-12pm and everyone is invited.
Co-hosting this event with us are the Officers of the Iron Pigs, a coalition of Houston area police officers whose personal mission is to reach out to the community and promote Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a tool to help children develop mentally and physically.
During the seminar we will talk to the kids about bully prevention and steps they should take if they are being bullied. We will also preach the importance of not being a bully themselves then show them basic self-defense moves to help boost their confidence and give them a way to defend themselves if need be.
The seminar is free to children of all ages and adults are invited to watch and see what we’re all about at Renzo Gracie Lake Houston. There is a suggested (not required) donation of $10 if you want to support the LEO community and help us keep our anti-bullying work sustainable for the future.
All proceeds will go to wounded HPD officers and the entire community is welcome to join us.
